Matters

Privacy notice

Last updated 25 Oct 2026

Matters is a tool lawyers use to collect information and documents from their clients and from other lawyers. AMP10 runs it. This notice explains what is collected, who can see it and what you can ask for, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Who is responsible for your information

When a lawyer sends you a request, that lawyer decides what to ask for and what to do with your answers. Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, the lawyer is the data controller for your information.

AMP10 runs Matters and processes your information on the lawyer's behalf and on their instructions. We do not use it for anything else.

What is collected

From people who receive a request: the answers you type, the files you upload, any expiry dates you enter, when you opened and submitted the request, and your consent.

From lawyers: name, chambers name, email address, phone and WhatsApp numbers, Supreme Court enrolment number, and a password stored only as a one-way hash.

Your IP address is used for a short time to slow down repeated attempts on login and request pages. It is not stored with your answers.

One cookie keeps a lawyer logged in. Another remembers, for 30 days, which lawyer invited a new lawyer to sign up. There are no advertising cookies, analytics scripts or third-party trackers.

If a lawyer turns on notifications for a phone or computer, the browser's push address and keys for that device are stored so messages can reach it. Messages to lawyers never include a client's name, a matter title or any answers.

Who can see it

Only the lawyer who sent the request can see your answers and files. Other lawyers using the service cannot.

AMP10 staff do not open your answers or documents, except where the law requires it. If someone reports a request as suspicious, we review the account that sent it.

Files are kept in private storage and can only be downloaded through the lawyer's account. Every download is logged.

Where it is stored

Everything is hosted by Cloudflare. The database runs in Cloudflare's Western Europe region and files are stored in Cloudflare R2 in North America, so your information is stored outside Nigeria.

Emails to lawyers are sent through Cloudflare. Notifications to a lawyer's phone or computer pass through the push service of their browser's maker, such as Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft, encrypted so that service cannot read them.

How long it is kept

Your answers and files stay in the lawyer's account for as long as the lawyer needs them for the matter. The lawyer can delete files at any time.

If a lawyer closes their account, AMP10 deletes their clients' answers and files within 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or withdraw your consent. Because the lawyer is responsible for it, send your request to the lawyer who asked for it.

If you cannot reach the lawyer, or you think a request is not genuine, use the Report link at the bottom of the request page. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Security

Each request link is long and random, opens only one request, and the lawyer can switch it off at any time. Links also expire on a date the lawyer sets.

Every lawyer gives their Supreme Court enrolment number when they sign up, and new accounts are limited until we have checked it.
